Lovebirds

  • Hijaz mode (a popular scale in Middle-Eastern music)
  • Parallel chambers separated by the interval of a 5th

The Lovebirds are an innovative double-chamber ocarina.  Each chamber has five holes and uses a natural linear fingering pattern.  The first and second chambers are set together in parallel intervals.

In their separation, there is an inherent harmonic relationship between the chambers.  They can be played with identical fingering to easily harmonize any melody, or differentiated to offer a wider range of harmonic possibilities.
